GIVING VOICE FOR PRESENTATION

Hello everyone,

Today's entry is on an amazing website called , . This fantastic website helps to make your presentation (Powerpoint) comes to live by inserting voice for the slides presentation. When my tutor introduce this website to us during our ICT lesson, I was amazed because this tool could be very helpful for classroom presentation for both the teachers and learners.

This is how the website looks like:

Easy Peezy Lemon Squeezy Steps On How to use My Brain Shark:

  1. Click the link My Brain Shark, which will be directed to the webpage.
  2. Sign up to create an account, in order to upload content.
  3. Log in into your account to upload any content
  4. Click the 'Upload Content' icon to upload content
  5. Then, you may choose to add PowerPoint presentations, documents, photo album, video or also produce podcast.
  6. Here, I am focusing on adding PowerPoint presentation, so click 'Upload PowerPoint' to upload your presentation
  7. You can tag information to let people find your presentation and add categories for your presentation
  8. Proceed with recording your voice for the presentation
  9. Start sharing it to get feedback from public and you can embed it into your blog too

My Brain Shark is fantastic because:

  • Benefits both the teacher and students in making a presentations for classroom purpose, where, it helps to combine both audio and visual for presentation (better than the boring presentation).
  • Allows both students and teachers to practice before real presentation, (especially for students, this tool could help reduce their anxiety for presenting and also allow them to improvise their presentation before the real one.)
  • Shows some creativity in the way of presentating
  • Acts as a revising note for examination for example lecture for a topic in class
  • Saves time, if time is limited for presenting in class. For instance, videos from internet require time to buffer before playing if the internet is slow.
  • Great for distance learning or virtual learning
  • Free though need to sign up
  • Could publish the presentation publicly to get feedback from people all over the world or share presentation for future use ( a way of building network)
  • Beneficial especially for a tutorial presentation, eg: how to bake red velvet cake
  • Students could practice their speaking or oral skills independently (could send the presentation to teacher for feedback)

Limitations of My Brain Shark:
  • The steps are quite complicated for beginner, may require one or two lesson in showing how to use this tool -could be time constrain
  • Requires internet connection, will be difficult without internet or slow connection
  • Only displays students voice - students could be just reading from a prepared text rather than talking spontaneously
  • Although free, the freer version only allows 15 minutes presentation in class

Below is my presentation about My Life Experiences using the tool. Hope you will like it and give it a try.
