SONGS IN ELT!!!

This is an fun website which allows us to learn foreign language using songs. this web proves that entertainment items like songs could be utilised in language classroom. this could help the student practice different languages by singing songs.

Below is the link for this website.

Advantages
  • Users could learn foreign languages in a fun way, song lyrics.
  • Sharpen skills through music and songs lyrics
  • Easy to use by all level learners including teachers - it has three mastery level: 1) beginner, 2) Intermediate and 3) Expert (how it works: the words will be missing in the lyrics - filling up the blanks. if delayed in filling, the song stops and give time to think for the missing words> may reduce anxiety in finding the words. this means if get stumped, the video song stops)
  • Free to use and registration is not required
  • Helpful in feedback because the tool could keep track and save the result of one's effort. This could be considered as healthy competition among students
  • Great way for improving fluency and dabbling in a new language(s) or existing, though, this alone does not make one fluent in a language.
  • Not monotonous
  • Users could practice their favourite songs, at the same time, improve singing skills, vocabulary list (understanding new terms) and also knowledge on the slang or dialect used in certain language(s).
  • Create a platform for autonomy in learning a language or new language

Limitations

  • If the students could not understand the lyrics, it could be pointless to hear the respective song and filling the blanks, may lead to frustration rather than fun
  • This tool may not satisfy all the students because some students may have different interest or have less interest in songs which could be burdening them.

To add, this is a video on how to create your own activity using this tool. here is the link on how to do it
